Carfin Building Brick, 1900s

Known as a common brick in the trade, this brick was produced in Carfin, a village on the outskirts of Motherwell. Many Lithuanians worked in the brickworks; fleeing their homeland they were atttracted by the employment opportunites in the coal, brick and steelworks and so made the area their home.
