Rocking chair, Coatbridge, 1890s

Rocking chairs have long been associated with childcare, as the rocking motion has a calming effect (which has made them popular with adults too). This chair has been reupholstered with new covers at some point in its life. It is thought to have been a wedding present to a Mr and Mrs Stafford, from Coatbridge, in the 1890s.
