Brick, Rochsolloch.

A firebrick marked 'Patent Rochsolloch'. This brick was made in the Rochsolloch Brickworks, Coatbridge. Fireclay bricks, a fire-resistant type of brick made from high-allumina clay (common in central Scotland) were used to line furnaces, and were essential in heavy industry for most of the industrial period.
