Garnkirk Fireclay Brick, 1800s

Produced by the Garnkirk Fireclay Company at their works in Gartliston, near Glenboig. Opening in 1831 it was the first brickworks in the Glenboig area. Built next to the Glasgow and Garkirk Railway which had opened just a year earlier, to allow for transport of raw materials and finished products to Glasgow and markets abroad.
