Sentinel Locomotive, 1950s

This steam locomotive is unusual because it has a vertical boiler inside the driver's cab. When it was acquired by the Coatbridge firm of RB Tennent this loco was given the name 'Robin' after one of the owner's sons.

The loco was used to shunt wagons on site at the Whifflet Foundry after they had been delivered by main line locomotives. The three at the Whifflet Foundry were the last working steam locomotives to run in Scotland.
