i was so pleased to find this painting on your website and accompanying details. Alexander Anderson MP for Motherwell and Wishaw was my great uncle who died 3 years before i was born. My father has talked about him at times although he rarely met him during his lifetime, being born in Canada and spending the early years of his life after his family returned to the United kingdom in a small village in Northamptonshire called Harpole. Seeing this painting has sparked an interest in my great uncles parliamentary career and i have been reading some of the precis'd accounts of his 58 contributions as a member of parliament, on subjects as varied as the herring industry, coal iron and steel industries and hydo-electric power.
