Scottish Railway Striker's Badge, 1891

The Scottish Railway Strike was part of a long campaign by railway workers to reduce their working hours. Distrust had developed between workers and management on the North British Railway which, combined with increaded workload and congestion following the opening of the Forth Bridge led to a bitter dispute.
