Apprentice Pieces

It is common practice for an apprentice to make things that demonstrate their skill in their chosen trade. These pieces were made by an apprentice boiler tool-maker at Anderson Boyes in Craigneuk, Lanarkshire. This firm was one of the UK's biggest manufacturers of equipment for the mining industry. The items include a door knocker, shovel hanger, door handle, adjustable machine guard and an ashtray, amongst other things.
