Personal Carbon Monoxide Monitor

This device was carried by a steelworker to warn them of the presence of carbon monoxide gas. Carbon monoxide (CO) is poisonous but also odourless which makes it especially dangerous. The initials 'BF' handwritten on the carrying case suggest that this monitor was worn by a blast furnace worker at Ravenscraig Steel Works in Motherwell.
