The Farme Colliery Engine

One of the world's rarest steam engines, the Farme Colliery Engine is one of three Newcomen engines that worked at Old Farme Colliery in Rutherglen. It was built in 1809 or 1810 and worked until about 1913 when it was donated to the City of Glasgow.

One of only three surviving rotative Newcomen engines, the Farme Colliery Engine is now on loan to North Lanarkshire Council and on display at Summerlee Museum in Coatbridge.
