Bothwellhaugh, around the 1950s.

This company village for the workers of nearby Hamilton Palace Colliery was famously demolished in the 1960s and lost beneath the waters of Strathclyde Loch, although in fact most of the site of the village is still on dry land.

The chimneys in the photo show where the coal mine, which closed in 1959 was. The pit bing (or waste heap) you can see was where M&D's theme park is now.
