Airdrie Cotton Works, around 1910

These women are posing with their power looms inside Thomas Goldie and Company's cotton mill at Rawyards, to the north of Airdrie.

The overwhelming majority of workers in the mill were women and those we see here are wearing their hair up to avoid it becoming entangled in the machinery.
