Stanrigg Colliery Disaster Relief Fund Poster, 1918

This poster advertises a public meeting at Airdrie's Sir John Wilson Town Hall on 22 August 1918 to raise money for the families of those lost in this mining disaster.

On the 9th of July that year after two weeks of heavy rain a deluge of wet peat broke into the mine workings killing 19, including two 14 year old boys. Only 8 of the bodies were recovered.
