Hi, I think Billy McPate is correct about the above photo. I served my apprenticeship with British Steel as a mechanical fitter at the Calder Tube Works,Coatbridge in the early 70`s. RB Tennants was right next door to the Calder. The Calder made seamless tubes for the oil and gas industry and sent them all over the world. Before British Steel if was Steward and LLoyds but that was a bit before my time. Hope this helps. All the best. Eddie Stafford HI EDDIE, MANY THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENT, WE WILL UPDATE THE CAPTION FOR THIS PHOTO.

The worker is not sawing the pipe. He is actually measuring its wall thickness using a micrometer. MANY THANKS FOR LETTING US KNOW, WE WILL AMEND THE DESCRIPTION.

The picture describes a worker sawing a tube at R B Tennent is actually a worker checking the thickness of a pipe. Tennent did not make pipe so it’s strange that this is being done. Stewart’s and Lloyds was a pipe work close bye. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR INTERESTING COMMENT. I WILL CHECK THE SOURCE OF THE PHOTO AND SEE IF IT HAS BEEN MIS-LABELLED, IN WHICH CASE I WILL UPDATE THE ONLINE CAPTION. WE ARE ALWAYS ON THE LOOK OUT FOR PEOPLE WHO WORKED IN LOCAL INDUSTRY TO INTERVIEW FOR OUR ORAL HISTORY ARCHIVE IF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW IS INTERESTED. JUSTIN.
