Tapping a Furnace at Coltness Iron Works, early 1900s

Here the furnace team is waiting for the molten iron to be released from the blast furnace in the background and flow into the sand moulds at their feet. you can see that they have set simple iron tools into a low wall of sand at the end of each channel to stop the iron from over-spilling.
