ARP Wardens, Coatbridge, around 1940

The Second World War gave women an opportunity to take on “men’s work", including roles in Civil Defence. These women served as Air Raid Precaution Wardens. Others in Coatbridge joined the Women’s Auxiliary Police Corps.
