A Man with a Steam Engine, Airdrie Cotton Works, around 1910
Pictured is possibly an employee of the Airdrie Cotton Works ("Goldie's Mill") with a small vertical steam engine. A banner in the background has "Thos Goldie & Co. Ltd., Airdrie" printed on it.
The engine is similar to a small steam engine that came from Airdrie Museum and is thought to have been built by Jackson Millar, an engineer who worked in Airdrie for a time. They are possibly the same engine. They may be models of engines built by Robert Napier - for whom Millar had previously worked - that powered the cotton mill.
