Chieftains' Parade, Shotts, 1950

The men pictured in full Highland dress are leading the procession at the first ever Shotts Highland Games. Many Lanarkshire towns saw the introduction of pipe bands and annual games as Scottish Highlanders seeking work settled in Lowland areas during the nineteenth century.
