Poster Denouncing an Ironmaster over the Truck System, 1856

Merry and Cunningham were the owners of the Carnbroe Iron Works in Coatbridge. This poster accuses them of breaching the 1831 Truck Act which was meant to stop factory owners from exploiting their workers by paying them in tokens which had to be spent at the company shop at inflated prices.
