Steelworker's Protective Goggles

These tinted glasses were to protect the steelworker's eyes from the intense radiation from the steel furnace. There is a piece of leather around the bridge to protect the steelworker's nose from being burned by the steel frame of the goggles when they became hot.

David Rankin bought these glasses at an optician's in Bellshill while working at the nearby Clydesdale Works.
