Wooden mallet from Airdrie Savings Bank

This ceremonial mallet was used to lay the foundation stone of the Airdrie Savings Bank's new purpose-built headquarters on the corner of Stirling Street and Wellwynd, Airdrie.

It was appropriate that when the bank closed down in 2018 the head branch was the last to close its doors.
