Steel Test Sample

This piece of steel has been made so that it can be tested in a tensile testing machine.

Two marks were made on the central section before the sample was placed in the machine which would pull the ends apart. The marks would get further apart as the sample was stretched and eventually the sample would break.

The testing machine recorded how much energy was needed to stretch and break the sample. This ensured that the batch of steel that the sample was taken from was up to standard.
