Irish Dance Dress, Cumbernauld, around 1990

Worn by Annie McKay, a 1980s All-Scotland dance champion. She was also the first Scottish dancer to win an All-Ireland championship. Tragically, Annie died in an accident while competing in Ireland in the mid-1990s, having recently been accepted to join the Riverdance World Tour.

The donor, who was brought up in Easterhouse and Coatbridge, knew Annie as a fellow dancer. Her grandfather worked as a welder with Annie's late father, Charlie McKay, many years ago.
