A.T. & E. telephone, Bedlay Colliery, 1948-on

This telephone, made by the Automatic Telephone & Electric Co., was bought for use at Bedlay Colliery after nationalisation. This made communication with the pit bottom much easier – Bedlay’s deepest shaft measured 372m (1220ft)
