Violet Ray Machine

This violet ray machine was made by Osborne Garrett and Co. Ltd. It is a device for administering electric shocks, via various bulb-like attachments, which glow purple when activated. Violet ray machines are a sophisticated example of patent medicine, and are supposed to cure practically any ailment. They fell out of use after the Second World War.
