Coatbridge Burgh Band Drum, 1868

Instrumental bands were often connected with collieries, iron foundries and steelworks and maintained by the workers’ wages. The Coatbridge Burgh (or Instrumental) Band and Gartsherrie Silver Band enjoyed a local rivalry.
