Cast Iron Window Sash Weight

Sash windows that slide up were a very common type of opening window in the eighteen and nineteenth centuries. To stop the sash from sliding back down when it was opened the sash was connected via cords and pulleys to iron weights. These weights were hidden inside the window frame so had to be long and thin.
