Nikini -Sanitary Garment, 1970s

The garment inside its box is a waterproof, plastic bikini-like brief designed to hold disposable Nikini pads through snap attachments. It has a self-adjusting, elastic waist band of 42". The packages reads “Tiny, bikini-like garment. Moisture proof, soft, washable. Self-adjusting to hips 42”.” This washable and reusable garment was a jump ahead of a sanitary belt for convenience and deals with the problem of shifting pads. Garments like these were out of fashion by the 1980s. For historic sanitary towels see objects: COTSL-1994-75-61.1-.2.
