Vibrofix Electric Massager, 1920s

The “VIBROFIX” is a German-made muscle massager that can be plugged into home outlets and is 230-250 voltz. It has three different rubber attachments for different massage textures. Massagers were one of the suggested treatments in the early 1900s for the treatment of nervous diseases as a form of physiotherapy as well as a beauty treatment for the face and hair. For more body massagers in the CultureNL collection see the Niagara Hand Unit (NLC-2000-391) and Dr. Macaura’s Blood Circulator, (COTSL-1992-176).
