The Curlers at Rawyards by John Levack (1823-1874), 1857

Levack’s painting shows a curling match in progress on a pond at Rawyards on the eastern outskirts of Airdrie. The painting depicts a selection of mainly middle class local people and dignitaries, including Patrick Rankin and Provost James Thomson Rankin of Auchengray, and Gavin Black and Robert Graham of Rawyards.
