A Highland Cottage Interior by James Thomson (1878–1921), 1908
Amateur artist James Thomson (1878–1921) of Airdrie was the architect of the Sir John Wilson Town Hall in Stirling Street. Thomson was a member of James Thomson and Son, a local firm of architects founded by James Thomson (possibly his grandfather) in the mid-nineteenth century. The subject of this painting is reputedly Thomson’s grandmother’s cottage at Drimiginar, Arran.
