Mr Thomas Ellis by unknown artist, mid to late 1800s

Portrait of Mr Thomas Ellis (1818-1884), proprietor and manager of the North British Iron Works in Coatbridge. Ellis was one of the most prominent men in the Scotch malleable iron trade. This portrait is one of a pair, the other being of his wife, Mrs Thomas Ellis (NLC-1999-940).
