Miner’s Knife, Airdrie, 1900s

This knife belonged to Thomas Gray Thomson, manager of Whiterigg Colliery near Airdrie. He was involved in the rescue operation following the deadly flooding at nearby Stanrigg Colliery in 1918, which killed 19 men. 11 of them are still buried there.
