Magneto Mining Exploder

This is a magneto exploder or 'blasting machine', a device that would have been used in mining to detonate blasting caps remotely. When the detachable handle (not pictured) is depressed, an electrical impulse is generated by the machine, and sent along the line to trigger the blasting caps. The device has a robust brass casing in good condition, with a carrying handle.
