Police Button, Coatbridge, around 1914 – 1945

Uniform button from Coatbridge Burgh Police bearing the burgh coat of arms, which reflect Coatbridge’s status as the “Iron Burgh”. The arms feature an open blast furnace, coal field, beam steam engine, pit head frame, anvil and cogged wheel and a monk representing the ancient barony and parish of Monkland.
