Monklands Thistle Lodge Free Gardeners Apron

The Gardeners were a friendly society with many branches in the town of Airdrie. In the 19th century people joined friendly societies in large numbers and they could be found in small villages and large towns all over Britain. By the 1940 they had over 14 million members.
