Pot or Incense Burner

Unglazed earthenware pot or amphora with eight unusual spouts, possibly an incense burner. The origin of this item is unknown, but it was part of a collection of ancient Mediterranean pottery, particularly Cypriot and Phoenician.

From a box marked 'Mediterranean pottery'. Some items in this box appear to have been part of a collection of Graeco-Phoenician Culture artefacts from Cyprus (see the 1927 Airdrie Museum guide, p.14). Other items in the box appear to be of Roman origin.
