Art Deco Candlestick, Bargeddie, 1930s

This ornamental candlestick comprises a silvered kneeling figurine which is weighted by a marbled base. It is typical of the Art Deco style that was popular in the 1920s and '30s. By this time paraffin lamps had largely replaced candles for everyday use.
