Ormond Hairdryer, 1930s

Ormond was one of the most popular early hairdryer brands. This dryer is made from Bakelite and even has a small mirror in its matching case. Electric hair dryers began to become popular in the 1920s, especially after the spread of the National Grid. By 1938, 9 million people in Britain had access to electricity, up from 750,000 in 1920.
