Model of Mill for Making Seamless Steel Tubes

This model shows the shape of the rollers in a Pilger Mill stand for making steel tubes. It came from the offices of the Clydesdale Tube Works in Mossend, near Bellshill. The Clydesdale Works was owned by Stewarts and Lloyds until Nationalisation when it became part of British Steel. The works specialised in making seamless steel tubes which were made from solid steel rather than welded sheet steel.
