North Lanarkshire was the centre of iron and steel production in Scotland for more than 150 years and the collection reflects this rich heritage.
Finds from the Summerlee Iron Works archaeological site, now a Scheduled Monument sit alongside protective clothing and large model rolling mills but also personal items and artwork.
Star objects include iron ‘pigs’ from Shotts and Summerlee Iron Works, a locomotive steam crane used in Dalzell Steel Works and a collection of over 150 items from Ravenscraig Steel Works.
