Discover their local and cultural traditions and the impact they made. Highlights include a striking Lithuanian National Costume and a beautiful wedding dress, handmade in Shotts for a local woman’s marriage to the son of an Italian immigrant.
The collection also includes of a wealth of material relating to friendly societies, such as regalia associated with the Ancient Order of Gardeners, Orange Order, Airdrie Weavers Society and United Oddfellows, to name but a few. Fascinating objects related to important community events, policing, crime and punishment also feature.
